Erica Hochanadel, LCSW (she/her)
Owner of Hochanadel Therapy & Therapist at The Empowerment Collective
Who I am:
To build a trusting and connective therapeutic relationship, I feel it is helpful to share more about myself and how I orient in the world. My name is Erica Hochanadel. I use she/her pronouns. I am a queer, non-monogamous, cisgender, currently able bodied, white human sexuality professional. I also am a toddler parent and person who has navigated a complex fertility journey. I enjoy binge reading fantasy books, being outdoors, doing hot yoga, cuddling with my animals, hanging with my kiddo, and spending time with loved ones.
My style:
As a clinician, I cultivate a therapeutic environment rooted in empathy, validation, honesty, and enthusiasm. Although I emanate warmth and compassion, I will not be passive in our work together. I actively challenge clients to grow, heal, and consider new perspectives and ways of thinking. I love to use humor in sessions, help untangle complex webs of thoughts and feelings, and can either be organized, linear, and directive, or flow with your stream of consciousness, whatever suits you best for the work we are doing. I pull from multiple theories, models, podcasts, and literature and am happy to talk more about this with you during our consultation.
My clients:
At the core of my work, I am a sexuality professional. I support queer, kinky, non-monogamous individuals, couples, and polycules navigating topics around desire, intimacy, orientation, gender, relationship structure, and pleasure. My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, shame reductive, and sex positive. Many of my clients come to me to make sense of the relationships in their lives. I love helping clients navigate communication barriers, conflict styles, and boundaries, as well as relationship discernment and conscious uncoupling.
Two of my recent areas of focus have been working with: 1) clients navigating their fertility journeys and 2) working with neurodivergent adolescents and adults.
Fertility Support: My clients tend to be queer couples looking to get pregnant for the first time or adults in their 30s and 40s grappling with infertility. I work with clients through all stages of their fertility journeys, including: discernment about whether to have kids; natural and medical conception; and perinatal care and postpartum mental health needs. I love coaching soon to be parents on how to tackle all the tasks of preparing for baby to come. Childcare is no easy feat y’all!
To those of you experiencing infertility, I see you. I am here to support you with the emotional toll of infertility — the grief, the uncertainty, the relational strain, and the quiet heartbreak that often goes unseen.
I recently became ASMR (American Society of Reproductive Medicine) certified and can provide counseling and letters for folks looking to utilize donor gametes (e.g. eggs/ oocytes, sperm, embryos) as part of their fertility treatment.
Neurodivergent Brains: I care deeply about working with neurodivergent adults who have spent years masking, overcompensating, and feeling like “too much” or “not enough.” Many of my clients are late-diagnosed, AFAB folks, trying to dismantle years of self-doubt and burnout. I don’t believe in “fixing” you — we work toward understanding your nervous system and building strategies that fit your brain.
Note: An upcoming service that I will be providing is Adult ADHD and Autism Diagnostic Assessments. I am currently finishing up my training and supervision for this and will be giving updates about this service when it becomes available!
I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to be able to work with you. Please reach out to schedule a free consultation so we can see if we are a good fit for one another. I look forward to connecting soon!
